Visual Culture Conference

The American Studies Department will host the third biennial Visual Culture Conference Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5-6. This conference is wholly organized by the department's graduate students and focuses on the presentation of graduate student work. The Conference Committee encourages students from all disciplines to engage the theme, "Politics of the Eye: Imagery of the American Political Landscape."

Friday begins with opening remarks at 6 p.m. in room 142 of Adorjan Hall and will continue with a guided presentation of Jonathan Horowitz's "Your Land, My Land: Election '12" from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Contemporary Art Museum-St. Louis, 3750 Washington Blvd. On Saturday, conference presentations will be held from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. in the Pere Marquette Gallery in DuBourg Hall.

The keynote speaker for this year's conference will be Matthew Frye Jacobson, Ph.D., professor of American studies, history and African-American studies at Yale University.
