The Sociology and Anthropology Department will sponsor a presentation by Betsy Cohen, project director for the new regional immigration and innovation initiative called the St. Louis Mosaic Project, from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the Anheuser-Busch Auditorium in John and Lucy Cook Hall.

Cohen will discuss "Why St. Louis Needs More Immigrants? How Can We Achieve Regional Population Growth."

The St. Louis Mosaic Project is a joint collaboration of the St. Louis County Economic Council, the St. Louis City Economic Development Corporation, the Regional Chamber and members of the other 20-plus organizations on the Steering Committee.

The goal is that by 2020 the region will have the fastest growth rate of foreign-born people, reversing current declines on the regional population of 2.8 million.

This event is open to the SLU community.
