Neurology and Psychiatry Joint Grand Rounds will be held at 8-9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in Lecture Hall 1 in Schwitalla Hall. Raman Malhotra, M.D., will present "Heads Up! A Multidisciplinary Approach to Concussions."

Malhotra currently serves as co-director of the SLUCare Sleep Disorders Center and director of the Concussion Clinic at Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center.

Malhotra attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City for his undergraduate degree and medical school and then completed his neurology residency and a sleep medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. He is board certified in neurology and sleep medicine.

Malhotra served as a faculty member for Michigan Neurosport, an innovative clinic dedicated to the neurological care of athletes while at the University of Michigan from 2005-2008. Since coming to Saint Louis University, he has served as a consultant and concussion specialist for the Department of Athletics, as well as the Indoor Football League.

He has presented and created educational programs for regional allied health organizations, high schools and athletes regarding sports-related concussions. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Brain Injury Association of Missouri and is a member of the Sports Neurology section of the American Academy of Neurology.

Malhotra's research interests include studying how improving sleep symptoms in persons with concussion may help with recovery.
