Neurology, Psychiatry Grand Rounds

The divisions of Neurology and Psychiatry will host Grand Rounds from 8-9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in two locations.

Neurology Grand Rounds will be held in Lecture Hall 1 of Schwitalla Hall. Samer Elbabaa, M.D., present "Pediatric Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Neurosurgery. "

Elbabaa is director of the division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the School of Medicine and SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center. He received his medical degree from the University of Jordan and completed neurosurgical residency training at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a clinical fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the Cleveland Clinic.

His clinical practice focuses on minimally invasive neurosurgery, pediatric brain and spinal tumors, cranio-cervical junction anomalies, neuro-endoscopy and fetal repair of myelomeningocele. His research focuses on advancing endoscopic techniques in cranial and spinal neurosurgery.

Psychiatry Grand Rounds will be held in Classroom B-024 in Monteleone Hall. Kelly Gable, Pharm. D., will present "Long-Acting Injectable Antipsychotics." Gable is an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and joined the SIUE School of Pharmacy from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.

Gable is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy and subsequently completed a specialty residency in psychiatric pharmacy practice at the University of Southern California. She is a Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist. Her clinical appointment is with Community Alternatives in St. Louis Missouri, where she works collaboratively with psychiatry in the treatment of persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
