The 1818 Advanced College Credit Program is Saint Louis University's dual credit program, and the premier program of its kind in St. Louis. 1818 ACC offers students college credit through a high school course taught at the college level by a SLU approved Adjunct instructor. Benefits of the program are many, the most obvious being that students pay only $65* per credit hour, which is a significant discount from SLU's Undergraduate tuition rate.
The 1818 ACC Program was established in 1959 as a way for advanced high school students to earn college credit. The program offers transcripted credit to students who meet the course and program requirements. While still in high school, 1818 ACC courses meet SLU course requirements. 1818 instructors must be approved by SLU Faculty Liaisons to be considered an Adjunct Instructor. Classes are taught at an advanced level, so students are expected to fulfill their responsibilities for the class.

Students are responsible for:
- Registering for 1818 classes by the Registration deadline
- Submitting tuition payment by the payment deadline
- Completing assigned classwork to the satisfaction of their instructor
- Requesting a SLU transcript if transferring their credit to another institution
- Keeping all important class material for ease of transferability, including a syllabus
- Contacting the 1818 ACC Office should any problems arise
- Contacting their prospective institution to see how their 1818 credits will transfer

Dual credit is a way for high school students to earn college credit at the same time they're earning high school credit. Both the high school and college credit are separate from one another. For example, when a student drops his or her college credit with SLU, he or she may still be enrolled in the high school class. Work the student completes throughout the course contributes to the student's final grade in the class, which shows on their Saint Louis University transcript. This is why in order for students to transfer their dual credit, they must request a transcript be sent from SLU to the college they are attending.

As 1818 ACC students are enrolled in Saint Louis University, obtaining credit for undergraduate courses, they fall under the FERPA guidelines as "eligible students" which can be found below.
"The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education."
FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to their children's education records. These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level. Students to whom the rights have transferred are 'eligible students.'"

The Banner, or Student, ID is your student's unique 9 digit Identification number with Saint Louis University. This number remains constant, even if the student enrolls in Saint Louis University as a college freshman. Please keep a record of the ID number as students will use it to order transcripts, pay bills, and register for courses.
The SLUNet ID is the username assigned to each student at Saint Louis University , needed to access Banner Self-Service and the MySLU portal. If your student forgets their SLUNet ID, it can be found at People Finder. When searching for the student, the SLUnet ID is the portion of their SLU email address before the @ sign.
A transcript is an official document communicating a student's coursework and grades which have been completed through Saint Louis University. In order for your student to send other universities the courses they completed through the 1818 ACC program he/she must request an official transcript from the Office of the University Registrar.
