'New Jack Swing Valentine'
Dru Hill, Tony! Toni! Tone!, Guy, SWV, and Al B Sure fill Chaifetz Arena with love during the New Jack Swing Valentine Jam at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15.
Hailing from Baltimore, Dru Hill was formed in 1995 by high school friends Jazz, Sisqo, Nokio and Woody and have had hits such as "In My Bed" and "How Deep is Your Love." Formed in the late 80's by brothers Dwayne and Raphael Wiggins and their cousin Timothy Christian, Tony! Toni! Tone! reached No. 1 on the R&B chart with "Little Walter." R&B trip Guy was one of the first groups to introduce new jack swing sound in the mid to late 80's and enjoyed instant success, as their self-titled debut album sold over three million records worldwide.
Female trio Sisters with Voices (SWV) learned to harmonize together while singing in church. Their debut album featured a No. 1 Billboard track called "Weak" and earned them a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. One of new jack swing's most popular romantic singers, Al B Sure, has released five No. 1 R&B singles throughout his career, including "Nite and Day" and "Right Now."
