The Knights of Columbus Vatican Film Library and the Saint Louis Calligraphy Guild jointly will host a visual presentation/lecture by contributing artist Diane von Arx Anderson about the Saint John's Bible entitled "Special Treatment Illuminations for The Saint John's Bible" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, in the Anheuser-Busch Auditorium, John Cook School of Business.
The event is free and open to the public
Arx Anderson is a calligrapher and graphic designer who is part of an artistic team invited to create "special treatment" illuminations for The Saint John's Bible, the first handwritten and illuminated manuscript Bible commissioned by a Benedictine Abbey in over 500 years.
The presentation will discuss the process of creating contemporary illuminations for this monumental work and will include images not only from the bible but also of the scriptorium in Wales where it was produced. Volumes of the heritage edition facsimile of the Saint John's Bible will be on view.
