Lenten LuncheonEvent Details: 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., March 07, St. Francis Xavier College Church Ballroom, 3628 Lindell Blvd, St. Louis, MO, 63108-3394
The Division of Mission and Ministry will host a Lenten Luncheon from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Friday, March 7, in the lower level ballroom in St. Francis Xavier College Church.
Joseph Tetlow, S.J., will speak about the "Gift Examen." Tetlow, one of the leaders in the renewal of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, has written extensively on Ignatian spirituality, shaping a positive approach to adults' spiritual life, helping those who seek peace and self-realization. His Gifts Examen offers a sustainable way of coming to self-concentration and clarity of purpose in life. He will distribute a pocket-sized brochure outlining the practice, which is now being used nationwide.
Tetlow has served on the faculty of Saint Louis University, as dean at Loyola University, New Orleans, president of the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley, executive secretary of the U.S. Jesuit Conference in Washington, D.C. and on the Jesuit General's staff in Rome as Secretary for Ignatian Spirituality.
Registration is required and can be done online via Google Forms. The deadline to register is Monday, March 3.
Given the three traditional Pillars of Lent — prayer, fasting and almsgiving — an option to donate money will also be available. There is no charge for the luncheon. All funds received will be donated to the SLU Student Emergency Fund, information about which can be found online.
