Event Details: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., April 18 - April 19, DuBourg Hall, Sinquefield Stateroom

The Center for Sustainability at Saint Louis University has announced that Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) training partners, ISOS Group and Brown Flynn, will return to campus Thursday, April 18 and Friday, April 19, to provide certification training in sustainability reporting using the GRI Framework.

GRI, the world's leading framework for sustainability reporting, assists individuals and organizations in the development of a systematic approach to corporate responsibility and sustainability reporting.

The two-day certification training is designed to encourage participation among a diverse group of professionals looking to enhance their skill sets, such as for-profit and non-profit managers in charge of sustainability activities as well as sustainability consultants and graduate students. GRI is a framework suitable for organizations of all sizes, from all sectors, featuring sector specific metrics that organizations can flexibly adapt to communicate performance in key sustainability areas.

Participants will learn how to manage the sustainability reporting process using GRI's third-generation (G3 and G3.1) Sustainability Reporting Framework, supplemental GRI reporting publications and sustainability reports from leading organizations as case studies. As the world gears up for the release of the G4 guidelines, participants will be briefed on implications of the proposed changes.

Topics include:

  • Publication project management
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Materiality assessments
  • GRI coverage assessments
  • Data collection
  • Goal setting and GRI principles for boundary setting
  • Defining content
  • Ensuring report quality

The course is taught by working sustainability reporting professionals with in-depth knowledge of the GRI Reporting Framework and decades of experience managing enterprise-level reporting projects across a variety of sectors. A blend of instruction, individual and group exercises, sustainability case studies and special guest presentations from local reporting organizations keeps the course engaging and lively.

Upon concluding the 16 hours of required instruction, participants will be awarded the GRI Certificate of Completion directly from GRI>

The event is sponsored by the Center for Sustainability and the Boeing Institute of International Business at Saint Louis University, Brown Flynn, the ISOS Group and the St. Louis Regional Chamber.
