IRB Brown Bag Lunch

Event Details: 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., May 31, Learning Resources Center

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) will host its next Brown Bag Session from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 31, in Auditorium C of the Learning Resources Center. The topic will be "Research Misconduct: Lessons Learned and Practical Approaches to Problems" and is a purchased webinar provided by ACRP (Association of Clinical Research Professionals).

The value of research is dependent on trust in the integrity of the people engaged in research, and the emanating data. Maintenance not only of the trust of the scientific community, but more important, the trust of the public at large, is an essential prerequisite to ongoing scientific progress. In this webinar, participants will review noteworthy cases of research misconduct, discuss the applicable rules and underlying ethical principles and provide insight in how to effectively handle allegations of research misconduct. Upon completion of this webinar, attendees should be able to:

  1. Discuss noteworthy cases of research misconduct that might have been reported by the press and illustrate the ethical principles underlying the regulations governing research misconduct.
  2. Explain the governing regulations and employ specific approaches and methodologies handling allegations of research misconduct. Demonstrate how to avoid common pitfalls when handling allegations of research misconduct.

CNE Nursing Credits will also be available. The School of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Missouri Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

  • Missouri Nurses Association provider No. 115 - III
  • Nursing Contact Hours: 1.5

Have an extra 30 minutes? Stay until 1:30 p.m. and discuss the webinar in more detail with other participants and members of the IRB staff.
