Saint Louis University will hold a 9/11 Memorial and Prayer Service from 8-8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Lipic Clock Tower Plaza.
The event is being co-sponsored by the Department of Campus Ministry, the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, and the SLU chapter of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.
The theme of this year's event is "Everyday Heroes," acknowledging the police, firefighters and EMTs who responded on 9/11 as well as those who continue to serve their communities every day.
Among those to respond to the events of 9/11 was Roland Corvington, SLU's assistant vice president for Public Safety and Emergency preparedness.
Corvington, who worked at the FBI for more than three decades, was the incident commander of the United Flight 93 crime scene in Pennsylvania. He will share a personal reflection during Tuesday's memorial.
In keeping with this year's theme, the event also will include a candlelight vigil honoring all first responders.
