ROTC at SLU

College education has a long history of being paired with military leadership training. In St. Louis, ROTC programs have trained students to enter the armed services as commissioned officers since 1918.

Saint Louis University is affiliated with two ROTC programs for students interested in joining the armed forces: the Saint Louis Army ROTC and the Saint Louis Air Force ROTC.

Saint Louis Army ROTC

Army ROTC training is invaluable for any career that involves leading, managing and motivating people or fostering teamwork. Officers in the U.S. Army are typically responsible for hundreds of soldiers and millions of dollars in equipment; this kind of management experience can be very attractive for post-Army employers.

The Saint Louis Army ROTC program includes dozens of SLU students, as well as students from other local colleges and universities. A typical Army ROTC cadet can expect to spend around 10 hours each week in training, leadership classes and meetings.

Scholarships

Army ROTC scholarships include two-, three- and four-year options. Full-tuition scholarships are available with an option to qualify for room and board. Additional scholarships for living expenses also can provide a monthly living allowance for each school year.

Saint Louis Air Force ROTC

Air Force ROTC cadets learn the core values of the U.S. Air Force:

  • Integrity
  • Service before self
  • Excellence in all we do

The Saint Louis Air Force ROTC program is comprised of several local colleges and universities, including dozens of SLU students. A typical Air Force ROTC cadet can expect to spend around 10 hours a week in training, leadership classes and meetings.

Scholarships

Air Force ROTC scholarships give you an opportunity to help cover the cost of tuition, textbooks, lab fees and up to $500 in spending money per academic month. For more information, call 314-977-8328 or email afrotc@slu.edu.
