What advice would you offer to students during their college search and application processes?
I would advise students to stay organized and to apply early. Doing so will prevent the students from feeling overwhelmed throughout the process, and will help guarantee they meet any necessary deadlines. Also, I would advise the student to contact their admission counselor with any questions they have. We are here to assist you in any way that we can as you decide if SLU is the right fit for you.

How long have you worked as an admissions counselor at Saint Louis University?
I became an admission counselor in June 2013, shortly after graduating from Saint Louis University.

What do you enjoy most about your work as an admissions counselor at Saint Louis University?
I would definitely say that seeing a students face light up or voice raise in excitement after telling him or her about a particular aspect of SLU, whether it be a program, extra-curricular activity or study abroad location, is what brings me the most joy. As an alumna of SLU, it is sincerely enjoyable to see a student experience a similar level of excitement as I did while I was considering Saint Louis University.

Where is your favorite spot on SLU's campus?
The Busch Student Center without a doubt! Its a great place to study, grab a bite to eat in between classes or to people watch.

What is your favorite restaurant (or entertainment venue) near SLU's campus that you recommend to students and their families?
Do you like sea lions? Then a stop at the Saint Louis Zoo in Forest Park would be an enjoyable adventure after your visit to campus. Oh, and I forgot to mention admission to the zoo is free!

What did you study as an undergraduate?
I majored in Spanish and International Studies.

Other than those regarding financial aid, what are the most common questions you receive from prospective students and their families, and how do you respond?
When I speak with prospective student and their families, and they find out that I am an alumna of the university, they often ask what made me choose SLU. First, people usually find it interesting that I chose to move so far away from home to attend SLU (I am originally from Connecticut). Nonetheless, I knew SLU was right for me because of universitys commitment to service not just within the city of St. Louis, but across the country and throughout the world. The urban setting of the university was another factor in my decision making process. The ability to leave campus and within minutes enjoy the various neighborhoods within the city of St. Louis was perfect for me! Yet, nothing was more enjoyable than returning to campus after a long day of shopping and being able to come back to campus and spend the evening hanging out on the hammocks in the quad. Most of all, the people are what drew me to SLU. Everyone is extremely friendly and supportive of each other, which makes for a strong sense of community across the university.
