Legacy of Heath Care:
SLU Doctor Touches Lives of Orphans in Central Africa

Tim Rice, M.D., leads a double life. For 50 weeks out of every year, he is a doctor and a professor of pediatrics and internal medicine at Saint Louis University where he touches the lives of individuals every day. But for the other two weeks of the year, he is a rock star - at least that's how he's treated by the Congolese community where he has build a self-sustaining medical clinic.

Child Dropped from Burning Building Grows into Track Phenom
SLU freshman Brittney Cloudy leaps to success at SLU

Saint Louis University track-and-field phenomenon Brittney Cloudy made her first "leap" when she was just 10 months old.

The date was Dec. 7, 1990. Cloudy, a native of St. Louis, was trapped in a house that was engulfed in flames. The tragic fire ultimately killed four individuals, but Cloudy's mother saved her infant daughter with some quick thinking.

Her mother ran to the window and yelled out for someone to catch her baby. A passerby came to the rescue and caught baby Cloudy. Fortunately, her mother was saved by firefighters.

Nearly two decades later after her brush with disaster, Brittney Cloudy has grown up to become a track-and-field standout at Saint Louis University. The freshman currently holds the indoor and outdoor school record in the triple jump.
