Requirements for membership on the Advisory Board

  • Alumni may serve as a general member, committee member or committee chair.
  • Members are expected to attend all committee meetings and participate in general meetings.

Monthly meetings
YAA meetings take place the second Thursday every month at 6:30 p.m. in DuBourg Hall and usually run about an hour in length. Committees are expected to report on the status of their work at monthly meetings.

General Members
General members attend monthly meetings, provide feedback on events and board issues and support the committees as needed.

Marketing Communications
The Marketing Chair and committee members are responsible for promotion of YAA. This includes promoting the events and activities of YAA to prospective members through email, mail and Facebook. The Marketing Chair will work with university staff to maintain the website and Facebook page.

Events and Activities
The Special Event Chair and committee members are responsible for the planning and implementation of special events hosted by YAA. Events include networking opportunities such as happy hours, Billiken athletics and other sporting activities, educational events geared towards young professionals such as cooking classes, wine and beer tastings, home buying seminars, and other alumni sponsored events.

Membership Recruitment
The Membership Chair and committee members are responsible for recruiting alumni to serve on the YAA advisory board. Recruitment includes requesting nominations from other alumni leaders, faculty and staff advisors and creative planning to engage alumni and encourage them to become more involved.
