Fifteen to 20 volunteers are needed to role play as victims at the upcoming Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) final disaster simulation. Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 1, on the first floor of Ritter Hall.

The final disaster simulation exercise is part of the CERT final exam. Members will be tested on their response to a disaster.

The CERT trainees are not told ahead of time what type of emergency they will be responding to. Trainees will apply the skill sets they have learned during the eight-week training program, which is designed to develop situational awareness and a feel for what they can do to help the community during a disaster.

"The volunteer victims truly make the disaster exercise a life-like experience for the CERT members," said Connie Tillman, emergency preparedness coordinator.

CERT is a sanctioned student group of the Student Government Association that works with the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and local first responders to train students, faculty and staff in areas of fire safety, first aid, disaster psychology, search and rescue and more.
