Communication Department Seeks Nominees for Alumni Awards

The inaugural award will honor distinguished alumni and young alumni who have made exemplary contributions to their profession and have shown a commitment to community service.

The Department of Communication invites nominations for its two inaugural alumni awards: the Young Alumni Award and the Distinguished Alumni Award. The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, April 1.

The awards will recognize outstanding graduates who were majors, minors or graduate students in the program. Qualifications for each award are as follows:

Distinguished Alumni Award

  • SLU graduate whose major or minor was communication, or who received a master's degree from the department
  • Individual who has made exemplary contributions to his/her profession and who has shown a commitment to community service that reflects the Jesuit tradition
  • Age 36 or older

Young Alumni Award

  • SLU graduate whose major or minor was communication, or who received a master's degree from the department
  • Individual who has achieved significant professional accomplishments and honors the Jesuit spirit of serving others
  • Age 35 or younger

The department's advisory board, along with faculty, will select the award winners. Current board members are not eligible for the awards. Awards will be presented at the department's annual banquet honoring graduates in May.

Nominations are due by April 1 each year for consideration for the May awards ceremony. Nominations are welcome from the public, as are self-nominations.
