Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology has announced that the aerospace, biomedical, electrical and mechanical engineering programs were fully reaccredited by ABET.

Additionally, with its first graduating class in 2011, the computer engineering program received its initial accreditation.

Not only did these programs receive accreditation, but all engineering programs were accredited for the maximum allowable period of six years. The engineering physics program received its initial accreditation for a period of two years.

The ABET accreditation evaluating team is scheduled to visit Parks College later this month as part of the accreditation process for the civil engineering (BS) program. This is the earliest possible time that civil engineering could apply for accreditation, as it is required that a program has graduated students before it can apply for accreditation. Parks College graduated the inaugural class of civil engineers in May 2013.

ABET is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization that accredits college and university programs in the disciplines of applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. ABET provides specialized, programmatic accreditation that evaluates an individual program of study, rather than evaluating an institution as a whole
