Fresh Gatherings will be offering fresh turkeys to the Saint Louis University community just in time for the holidays. The turkeys are broad-breasted white variety, free range, hormone and antibiotic free, and naturally-raised from Buttonwood Farms in central Missouri. The price is $3.50 per pound, and birds will range from 15-30 pounds. The café will do their best to get customers as close to the size they request.
The café will also be offering a variety of sides prepared by chef Dan Brewer and the Culinary Club. Sides will include turkey gravy, turkey stock, green-bean casserole, mashed red potatoes, country style stuffing, cranberry relish, pumpkin pie, pecan pie and dinner rolls. All of the sides are sourced from local farmers who use sustainable food systems.
All side dishes must be ordered by noon Thursday, Nov. 15, and turkey orders must be placed by Friday, Nov. 16. A deposit of ten dollars is required when placing a turkey order.
Pick-up for both will be from 2-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Fresh Gatherings Café located in the lower level of the Allied Health Professions Building.
