The St. Louis Chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers awarded Krishnaswamy Ravindra, Ph.D., the Outstanding Engineer of the Year in Education Award
Ravindra received the award Friday, Feb. 25, in the Prologue Room of Boeing Co.
The Missouri Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) awarded Ravindra the Outstanding Engineer of the Year in Education Award for all of his contributions as an engineer in academia.
Ravindra is the interim dean at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology.
The president of the St. Louis Chapter of MSPE, Bob Becnel, nominated Ravindra for the award, because, "Dr. Ravindra represents the engineering profession with the highest ethical standards and care for the manner in which his students respect the same. His leadership as Dean of the School of Engineering at Saint Louis University only reinforces his qualifications of Award's focus on Education."
The Missouri Society of Professional Engineers awards presentation ceremony is one of the most important events of the year for the Society.
MSPE selected this year's winners based on how they have incorporated the depth of engineering talent in the St. Louis Area.
The MSPE's award ceremony was held in a fitting location at the James S. McDonnell Prologue Room, which tells a panoramic story of more than nine decades of aviation progress, from biplanes to space travel.
Other MSPE awards of the night included, Engineer of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year, Outstanding Engineer in Construction, Outstanding Engineer in Government, Outstanding Engineer in Industry and Outstanding Engineer in Private Practice.
Ravindra has been a pivotal part of the college for many years and Parks is honored and happy to see him recognized in the engineering community.

Ravindra obtained a Ph.D., in aerospace engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and received his masters of engineering degree in aeronautical engineering from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India. He also earned his bachelor of mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Engineering in Mysore, India.
He served as the department chair of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at Parks College from 1996-2009, and as the associate dean and interim chair from 2009-10. Ravindra has taught an array of courses in the aerospace and mechanical engineering fields.
Ravindra is an active member of a wide range of organizations. He is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and a member of the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE). He is also a member of the Indo US Collaboration for Engineering Education consortium (IUCEE).
Ravindra is a registered professional engineer in New York State. He has conducted research and published several technical papers in fluid dynamics, active control of structures, and engineering education.
