During Christmas Break, Simon Recreation Center will be closed intermittently for maintenance and enhancements. The information below outlines a list of closures based on projected maintenance schedules.
The Department of Campus Recreation remains committed to providing quality recreational facilities to the Saint Louis University community. Scheduling of facility improvement projects occurs during break periods or times of low usage whenever possible.
Dec. 27-Jan. 9: Simon Rec basketball courts will be closed for resurfacing. The courts will be "roughed/screened" and a new finish (polyurethane) will be applied. They will remain closed for at least another seven days so the courts can receive the proper amount of time to cure. It is possible that they will reopen sooner.
Dec. 29-Jan. 2: All of Simon Rec will be closed due to harsh fumes associated with the painting of the indoor pool, application of polyurethane to the gym courts and in observance of the New Year holiday. The building will reopen on Jan. 3.
Dec. 21-Jan. 16: The Simon Rec indoor pool will be closed while annual maintenance is performed and upgrades are made in the area. This includes a scrub and paint of the entire pool, painting of the blue structural steel in the area and other miscellaneous updates.
There may be other projects that occur over break, but they should have minimal impact on Rec visitors workout routines. For a complete listing of winter break hours of operation and to learn more about Campus Recreation programs and services, visit the Simon Rec website.
