Volunteers Sought for 2014 'Trash to Treasure' Drive

The annual recycling event will be held May 7 through May 13, and two to three volunteers will be needed to assist during each shift.

Trash to Treasure, the annual end-of-year, donation drive, will be held May 7 through May 13. Hours of collection will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the weekend.

In the 2011-2012 school year, Trash to Treasure collected 3,775 pounds of reclaimed items, and in the 2012-2013 school year, it collected 11,826 pounds. In all, the University has donated $28,000 to more than ten nonprofits in the St. Louis community.

The Center for Service and Community Engagement expects another big year and needs members.

Volunteers are needed each day of the drive from 3 to 5 p.m. Additional volunteers are needed from 8 to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 7 to 9 p.m. on weekends. Two to three volunteers are needed each shift to work with the volunteer coordinator to move donations to storage sites across campus and package donations.

Anyone interested in helping with Trash to Treasure may register to do so via Google Docs.

Higher purpose. Greater good.
