Casa de Salud has been nominated for the Health Literacy Missouri Trailblazer Award, which is given to a single individual or organization in recognition of commitment, achievement, originality and leadership in the health literacy field.

The SLU community is invited to vote online through Casa's website or Facebook page for the award beginning Monday, Sept. 9. If Casa wins, the clinic will be honored at the Health Literacy Tribute Awards Dinner and Summit on Oct. 3 and 4.

Casa, which is located at Saint Louis University's Medical Center, is a volunteer-driven organization that works primarily to provide healthcare to the uninsured, with a special focus on the Latino community. Many volunteers come from SLU, and thanks in part to their generosity, Casa is on a pace to have more than 12,000 patient visits this year.

Higher purpose. Greater good.
