Acute Pain Management
The primary goal of the SLUCare Acute Pain Management team is to aggressively treat perioperative pain. This allows our patients to have as much pain relief as possible, resulting in greater activity, relaxation, and decreased post-operative complications, as well as the promotion of optimal health and healing. We use a variety of techniques to achieve these goals, such as peripheral nerve blocks, continuous peripheral catheters, patient controlled IV analgesia (PCA), and epidural catheters.
With these techniques, our patients have greater pain relief, allowing them to recover and regain normal function more quickly. Our team has a dedicated member on staff at all times to assess and address pain issues and to create individualized treatment plans to tailor to our patients' needs.
