Islam in Post-Soviet Central Asia
Talk, "Islam in Post-Soviet Central Asia" by Dr. Eren Tasar, American Council of Learned Societies New Faculty Fellow at Washington University, where he currently teaches a course on Afghanistan. Dr. Tasar earned his Ph.D. at Harvard, specializing in Modern South Asian History, Russian and Soviet History, and history of the Ottoman Empire and Eastern Europe. He was manager in Uzbekistan for a U.S. State Department and IREX program on cultural and religious pluralism. Dr. Tasar offers a unique combination of academic expertise and personal knowledge of this complex region, now a center of world attention, but still poorly understood.
