Women's & Minorities Underrepresentation in U.S. Electoral Politics

The lecture will demonstrate underrepresentation of these groups in both national and state electoral politics. We will also briefly compare the U.S. rates of women and minority electoral representation to that of other countries. The lecture will feature our own research - U.S. women governors, data from state supreme courts, and the Maryland state legislature, national data women and minority elected officials, as well as conclude with some challenges and opportunities for diverse representation in US electoral politics.
