Bander Endowed Lecture Challenges Physicians to Maintain Distance

Marcia AngellMarcia Angell, MD, delivered an informative and challenging message to over 100 SLU physicians. Her talk, entitled "Conflicts of Interest in Medicine" outlined the effects of conflicts of interest generated by medicine's financial ties with the pharmaceutical industry in medical research, practice, and education. She concluded with four possible ways of managing the bias and improving the way medical research and practice are conducted. Read More

Bander Center Welcomes 2 New Fellows

Salvador Cruz-Flores, MD, MPH, Professor and Director of the Souers Stroke Institute in the Department of Neurology & Psychiatry, and Anthony Mikulec, MD, MBA, FACS, Associate Professor and Chief of Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology, joined the Bander Center in July. Read More

Submissions Due Feb. 15th for Virtual Mentor's Bander Essay Prize

Virtual Mentor, the AMA's online ethics journal, is now accepting submissions for their Bander Essay Contest in Medical Business Ethics. The winning entry will be awarded $5000 and published in Virtual Mentor, which is now indexed through MEDLINE.
