A World-Class Education
A SLU success story.
Saint Louis University graduates come from across the nation and around the world. Mukwati Akufuna graduated from Saint Louis University's School of Nursing in 2008 after completing two years of undergraduate at community college and now works as an RN at a St. Louis area hospital.
Originally from Zambia, Mukwati says his career choice stemmed from a desire to help people. Not all medical or care settings are staffed with teams of doctors, making a nurse's role - and their assessment skills all the more important.
"You can teach anyone how to give injections and [there are schools that do that.]," he says. "But I think [at SLU] that critical thinking was one of the areas that was very, very much emphasized."
Outstanding faculty are all around the university, he said, not just in nursing but in almost any field from medicine to law or business.
"You can go anywhere else and probably get a cheaper education," Akufuna says. "But the experiences [students] get at Saint Louis U, I don't think you can get anywhere else."
