BEST Robotics, Inc.

Interest in the areas of engineering, science and technology among youth in the United States has been declining for several years. Lower enrollment numbers in engineering programs at colleges and universities have shrunk the recruitment pool for employers of engineers, scientists and technologists. The lack of diversity that has historically marked the fields of engineering, science and technology (which have particularly struggled to attract minorities and women) only serves to heighten the concern.

BEST Robotics, Inc. (BRI) is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization whose mission is to inspire students to pursue careers in engineering, science and technology through participation in a sports-like, science and engineering-based robotics competition.

Saint Louis University and BRI

In keeping with Saint Louis University's historical mission to train ethically-minded leaders in important fields, Billiken BEST (Saint Louis University's BRI-sponsored hub) is committed to the goal of replenishing the currently shrinking pool of young persons interested in careers in engineering, science and technology. BRI's proven track record for sparking enthusiastic and diverse interest among middle and high school students in those crucial fields makes it a terrific means of achieving that goal. By serving as a BRI hub for the greater St. Louis region, Billiken BEST will provide comprehensive opportunities for middle and high school students to experience first-hand the compelling rewards of high-technology design.
