CHCE Alumni Colaborate on New Book
An Introduction to Health Care Ethics: Theological Foundations, Contemporary Issues, and Controversial Cases is an ideal introduction to health care ethics for college students who are unfamiliar with the field. Grounded in rich theological and philosophical traditions and presented in an engaging manner, the book provides students with an understanding of the foundational aspects of health care ethics and leads them into a discussion of contemporary issues through the use of timely and challenging case studies. A unique focus on discernment and decision making brings the material to life for students.
Four alumni from the Center for Health Care Ethics collaborated on the book: Michael Panicola, corporate vice president of ethics for SSM Health Care, David Belde, administrative director of ethics and mission for Bon Secours Richmond Health System, John Paul Slosar, director of ethics for Ascension Health and Mark Repenshek, a health care ethicist for Columbia Saint Mary's Hospital.
The book was published by St. Mary's Press in Winona, Minn.
