Narrative Inquiry in Bioethics:
A Journal of Qualitative Research


Narrative Inquiry in BioethicsThe inaugural issue of Narrative Inquiry in Bioethics (NIB) was published in October, 2011. The pioneering journal explores current issues in bioethics through "narrative symposia"-collections of personal stories from stakeholders on a topic with commentaries from scholars-as well as more traditional case studies and qualitative research articles. The journal seeks to address the experiences of patients and research participants, as well as health care workers and researchers.

DuBois Receives Grant Award
for RePAIR Program


RePAIR Program James DuBoisSometimes good researchers make bad mistakes. They may cut corners when consenting participants, fabricate data to meet a grant deadline, inappropriately access private records, or fail to disclose significant financial conflicts of interest. James DuBois, PhD, DSc has received an award from the NIH National Center for Research Resources to address this problem. Subcontracted through the Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, the $476,564 grant will help develop the Restoring Professionalism and Integrity in Research (RePAIR) program, which will offer remediation training for investigators.

Undergraduate Minor Added
to CHCE Course Offerings


A new undergraduate minor has been added to the CHCE course offerings and is scheduled to begin in the spring semester, 2012. Under the direction of new faculty member, Erica K. Salter, PhD, the 15-credit hour program will offer Saint Louis University undergraduate students a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education in the normative ethical questions that arise in our complex health care system.
