A bachelor of science in MLS prepares graduates to practice in a hospital or clinic laboratory as a health care professional in conjunction with other health care professionals including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, pharmacists etc. Medical laboratory scientists are eligible to take a certification exam after graduation to become a certified laboratory professional. Granting of the degree or certificate is not contingent upon passing an external certification exam.

Medical Laboratory Sciences Curricular Tracks:

A Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science provides students with:

  • A career as a laboratory health care professional
  • Medical courses to prepare graduates for post-baccalaureate professional schools (i.e. medical, veterinary, dental, pharmacy etc.)
  • Guaranteed placement in diverse clinical practicum sites.
  • Research experience
  • Low student to faculty ratios in lab courses
