My weekend at home!
When I was in high school I was involved in my community pageant – and no, not the swimsuit-wearing, talent-performing kind of pageant. I’m surprised at how many people didn’t actually know that “my” kind of pageant existed. In the pageant system I participate in, all the contestants have to go through an interview process to show the judges how personable they are with people they don’t know. They also have to present a prepared speech on stage and answer what we call a “pop question” in front of the entire audience. Before I participated in my first pageant, I was really, REALLY shy. Now, if you ever get to know me, I’m quite the opposite.
Why am I telling you about pageants? Because that’s the reason I went home for the weekend! I was actually the Mistress of Ceremonies at the event, so I was able to introduce all the girls and keep the audience entertained during down time. Though the pageant was really fun, I was mostly excited to go home so I could see my family (for the first time since Spring Break!) Here is a picture of me and my sister, Mallory:
When I was a senior in high school, I was a “Miss” for my city. Because of the constant running joke about my height, or lack there of for that matter, here is a picture of me with my “Little Miss” (who is in shoes about two inches shorter than mine):
