Pre-London
My mom and I are in charge of a 5k run every year for Labor Day. This year, my mom decided she wanted me to be in total charge. I had to do everything from finding a timekeeper, to ordering trophies, to finding participants, and everything in between. Our race was a COMPLETE success! Not only was it a beautiful day, but we also had a RECORD number of runners! My mom is sad that I won’t be able to help with it again next year.
Even though I had to wake up for the race at 4:30 am, I still made a point to leave the race and travel straight to St. Louis to see my friends one last time — only this time I surprised them! It was great to see everyone from SLU and walk around the campus before I leave for three and a half months.
I thought this time would never come, and now I’m scared that it’s almost here. Tomorrow I finally leave for London. (My flight was scheduled for Tuesday, but it was changed.) I’m still not done packing and, being the packrat that people know me as, am terrified for my mom’s “weight check” tonight. When Welcome Week came for the freshmen, I was really jealous that they were at a new place with new people. I realized that my trip to London will be the same, and got the same jitters I had before moving into Gries. I guess I’ll just have to tell you about my flight later!
