DUBLIN!
I have to apologize: For the last few weeks, I have had a very hard time getting to my blog. Maybe it was an internet connection problem in Europe or something, but I’m really sorry nonetheless.
As for the fun news?
Well, I went to Dublin this past weekend! I actually got round-trip airfare for less than $30! Our flight was delayed, but it didn’t matter too much. We were planning on getting in late anyway! We stayed in an awesome hostel. Everyone was really nice and it seemed rather safe. On Friday, we went on a bus tour of the city. It was a 24 hour tour, so we got to “hop on and hop off” whenever we wanted to go somewhere. I saw TONS of places, like St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral, The Guinness Storehouse, Trinity College, the Spire, City Hall, Temple Bar, Dublin Castle, the Museum of Modern Art and all the fun stores. It was a TON of fun!
On Saturday, we went on a tour of the Southern Coast. It was a long bus ride, but we got to see water and the mountains! Our main stop was Powerscourt Gardens. It was pretty much the Irish version of the Botanical Gardens…except with mountains for the backdrop and a huge mansion for an entrance.. It was gorgeous, not to mention REALLY nice for us to get out of the city for once. Here is a picture of us towards the front of the gardens:

Today I had even more exciting adventures. Wednesdays are devoted to field trips. We went to Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in the morning. We got a guided tour from one of the actors. Tomorrow I’m going with my Shakespeare class to see The Merry Wives of Windsor at the Globe, and I can’t wait!! After our tour of the Globe, everyone in a history class went to Greenwich and visited the Maritime Museum. Though I enjoyed it all, I must say that my favorite part took place on a hill in the back. The Prime Meridian is in Greenwich, so I actually stood on BOTH HEMISPHERES! It reminded us all of A Walk to Remember, because we felt like we were in two places at once.
After our long day of field trips, we took a ferry down the river Thames to get back to our flats. There was rain all day, but it cleared up and was sunny by the time of our boat trip. I’m pretty much known as the photographer here. Needless to say, I got many great pictures.
Now I’m getting ready to start my homework. I just booked another trip to Edinburgh, Scotland, for the weekend of October 9th. I’ll have to make sure to keep you all updated on that
