Presidential Scholarship Weekend A!
I always get so excited for Pres Scholar Weekend. This is my THIRD YEAR interviewing, and it seems like only yesterday I was interviewing for the scholarship myself. I answered a lot of questions at the reception on Friday night regarding the interview. Here are some tips if you are coming to Interview Weekend B:
1. Be Yourself! I know everyone probably gave you this same advice, but it really is important!
2. Smile! We aren’t here to scare you. In fact, we want to give you a scholarship! The happier you are, the happier we are.
3. Turn off your cell phone!
4. Tell me something about you that I can’t find out from paper! I have your resume and essay, but now I want to know you. All of your scores and grades are thrown away. Tell me something that will make me remember you…and make you get the scholarship.
5. If you can’t think of an answer right when we ask it, take a second to think.
6. Show us that you love SLU! That’s why you’re here, right?
7. Have fun! We already like you, and that’s why we asked you to come visit us. We want to get to know you on a more personal level. All of your accomplishments are great, so show us that your character is even better!
Good luck to everyone interviewing. I had a blast getting to know everyone this weekend, and I can’t wait to get to know the rest of you this Friday.
Hi Courtney,
I was looking at all the blogs and I saw that you do interviews for the Presidential scholarship. Because I completed the SLU express application that includes automatic scholarship consideration, I did not realize that I still had to send in the separate applications for the Pres and Martin Luther King Jr. scholarships. I have been kicking myself all week for not realizing sooner. Is there any possible way at all I could get an interview and still be considered? I love SLU, and I have a pretty big family (10 people) so the scholarship would help us so much. My not applying was not lack of interest., just confusion. I am definitely eligible (ACT 32, 97% GPA, taking 5 APs this year) but I would love to secure an interview so I can be more than just my application. Please email me back if you can, but I understand you must be very busy so I will also email and call admissions. Thank you so much!
Vanessa
Vanessa,
I am really sorry to say that the application deadline has already passed and that the interviews for the Presidential Scholarship are already complete. I know how much the scholarship can help, but I want to let you know that SLU is more than just a school. It’s a second home. Private schools are automatically more expensive than state schools, but its because of the quality. SLU educates the whole person and makes its students men and women for others. If you have any other questions or concerns please let me know. I will do my best to help!
Good luck with your college decision process.
