Going Back to School

The hardest part about coming back to school was getting over the self-doubt. I thought for years about how hard it would be and, ultimately, I kept talking myself out of returning to school. However, I reached a point in my life when I realized that the only way for me to truly reach the level of success and meaningfulness I desired was to go back to school.
Deciding to attend Saint Louis University was a lot easier than deciding to come back to school. I met with admissions personnel at a few different local universities and, in my opinion, what SLU had to offer and the way they offered assistance were the deal breakers for me. The process of enrolling and getting started was seamless. Also, SLU is centrally located, which is one of the things I favor most about it.
Since I’ve started classes, I’ve encountered some assignments that have required me to do some critical thinking, and I have even changed my mind on a couple of subjects I once felt strongly about.
This is what I have liked most about SLU. Every class has introduced me to my classmates in personal ways. I have left most of my classes knowing things about my classmates that have really changed the way I think and feel.
The first class I ever took was Learning Strategies, Processes, and Resources. For anyone who has been out of school for an extended period of time, I recommend this class. This class got me in the habit of studying and writing with a purpose-not just to fill up a page. The professor for this class was fantastic. I’m happy that this was my very first college class because it was what I needed. This class helped me to believe in myself and my academic abilities.
After this class, I was sure I made the right decisions in not only coming back to school, but in choosing Saint Louis University School for Professional Studies.

It is important that what you study will help you get a job, and make sure it is one the things employers look for by looking at the job classifieds.
