Debbie Barbeau joined the faculty in 1997 after teaching at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale for twelve years. In 1999 she was appointed to the position of Director of Undergraduate Programs for the business school and in 2004 was appointed to the position of Assistant Dean, Undergraduate Programs. She was recognized by the University as a “Woman of the Year” in 2008, and in 2009 received the Thomas M. Knapp S.J. Distinguished Faculty Award presented by the JCSB Alumni Association. She has received several teaching excellence awards and has been recognized in “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers”. In addition to her teaching and administrative duties, Debbie has served as the faculty advisor for the Freshmen in Business student organization and Beta Gamma Sigma, the business honors fraternity. Her primary areas of accounting interest are financial reporting and managerial accounting. Debbie is energized by students and has joined student groups on several alternative (community service) spring break trips. In her spare time Debbie enjoys spending time with family and friends.
