Please join the IRB at our next Brown Bag Session.

“PRIM&R's Primer on the Revised Common Rule” will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in Room 113 at the Learning Resources Center.

On January 19, 2017, the Office of the Federal Register published a revised Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects, marking the first significant changes to the Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects, or "Common Rule," since 1991. These changes will have important and wide-reaching implications for the human subjects research enterprise.

Throughout 2017, the SLU IRB will update the research community on changes to local requirements in response to the regulatory revisions.

In this initial session, we will show a purchased webinar provided by PRIM&R (Public Responsibility In Medicine & Research), and members of the IRB staff will be on hand to discuss the potential impact on local requirements, the eIRB system, etc.

The webinar will provide an overview of the critical changes presented in the Rule as well as an explanation of the rulemaking process and the various possible outcomes.

To access previously published resources regarding changes to the Rule, visit the IRB website homepage.

Don’t forget to bring your lunch or a snack!

The IRB’s Brown Bag series is designed to provide the SLU research community with in-depth understanding and discussion concerning the latest policies, procedures, and requirements pertaining to human subjects research. Brown Bag sessions are for SLU research professionals and coordinators, and any student, staff, or faculty member who is looking for continuing IRB education.
