A New Dining Services Provider Means Many New Options

Students returning to campus this fall found a few familiar dining options on campus, but the University's new partnership with Philadelphia-based Aramark brings many new venues that might be a little overwhelming at first.
"DineSLU's vision for Saint Louis University's residential dining community is about transformation," said Brooke Gordon, unit marketing manager for Aramark. "We will be transforming the facilities and the food, ultimately changing the way students and faculty experience dining at SLU. The food will be certainly delicious, high quality and include locally sourced products."
Aramark's contract proposal for SLU also addressed the need to enhance the University's on-campus dining facilities, and the agreement is expected to fund millions of dollars in capital improvements over the next several years.
Here's the scoop on all the spots where you'll be able to fill your belly this fall:
St. Louis Bread Company will open its newest location in the Busch Student Center on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 7 a.m.
Hours of operation for the new dining facility are from 7a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
"DineSLU is excited to welcome St. Louis Bread Co. into our family of on-campus dining locations," said Gordon. "The students of Saint Louis University told us what they want, and we brought it to them. We welcome the opportunity to partner with this hometown brand."
The campus location will offer a menu that highlights Panera favorites, as well as seasonal newcomers. Because seating is limited, meals will be packaged to-go for the convenience of guests.
The campus location will accept Flex Dollars.
Griesedieck and Reinert Dining Halls will continue to serve as "All-You-Care-To-Eat" campus restaurants. Meal swipes, Flex Dollars, Cash, and Debit/Credit are accepted, and students, faculty and staff are welcome.
Busch Student Center is still home to Marketplace Food Court where student favorite Chick-fil-A is now joined by Topio's pizza, AFC ready-to-go sushi and Panda Express. The refrigerated selection of ready-made sandwiches, yogurt parfaits and drinks has migrated slightly and is now on the far side of the cash registers.
The space opposite the University Bookstore is now occupied by P.O.D. Market a corner-market style venue that serves Starbuck's coffee and features grab 'n go dining options for breakfast, lunch or any time of day, including breakfast sandwiches, burritos, wraps, sushi and salads, as well as fresh produce, bakery and coffee selections and traditional essentials found in a convenience store. To satisfy your sweet tooth, this is also where you can find Red Mango frozen yogurt and containers of Ted Drewes custard.
On the ground floor of the BSC, the area that was occupied by Salsarita's is now home to The Billiken Club & Grill. The space has been spruced up and stocked with flat-screen TVs, making it a great venue to watch the Billikens, or any of St. Louis' other great sports teams.
Clemens Hall is now home to a full service Starbuck's shop , featuring specialty coffee drinks, bakery goods, sandwiches and merchandise.
The Cafe, located inside The Center for Global Citizenship (CGC), will continue to feature a rotating menu of international entrees.
Cook Hall's Ameren Cafe remains a casual dining spot for students, faculty & staff, feauring made-to-order sandwiches and salads.
New to Pius XII Library, Einstein Bros. Bagels features fresh-baked goods, made-to-order sandwiches, crisp salads and gourmet coffee.
Subway will remain open in DeMattias Hall for the next month, at which point the sandwich shop will be relocated to Fusz Hall.
Beyond the main Frost Campus, Union Cafe in the Health Sciences Education Union offers grab & go salads, sandwiches and beverages, and the Salus Cafe, housed predictably in Salus Center, serves burgers and sandwiches made to order. The Docket, on the ground floor of SLU Law's Scott Hall, has revised its menu slightly since last year, but still offers full table service as well as a small selection of ready-made sandwiches and snacks.
Scheduled to open in November now, the highly anticipated new Billiken's Lair at Fusz Hall is a redesigned space that will have an outdoor patio area with extended seating, as well as upgraded seating and lounge areas inside. The Billiken's Lair will feature Grille Works, Qdoba Mexican Grill, P.O.D. Market, Jamba Juice and Subway.
