The graduate Certificate Program in Clinical Health Care Ethics was established to serve hospital personnel and others engaged in health care. It is designed to foster clinical ethics skills and knowledge needed by ethics committee members, physicians, nurses, administrators, attorneys, social workers, chaplains, and others engaged in health care. Program faculty provide mentoring and guidance to enable participants to achieve their individual learning goals as they pursue the Certificate in Clinical Health Care Ethics.
The Certificate Program may be completed over the course of one year. (See Time Frame.) The program combines distance learning with two on-site seminars lasting two days, one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester. The on-site seminars include lectures and discussion groups. All courses are taught at the 500-level (Master's degree level) and appear on Saint Louis University transcripts.
Participants in the Certificate Program in Clinical Health Care Ethics also have the option of completing an optional concentration in Catholic health care ethics.
