Time Frame
The Certificate Program is designed to be completed within a period of one year.
- The first semester (Fall): participants register for 4 courses (each 1 Graduate School credit hour) that include the distance learning component and the first 2 day on-site seminar.
- The second semester (Spring): participants register for 3 courses (each 1 Graduate School credit hour) that include the distance learning component and the second 2 day on-site seminar.
- The third semester (Summer): participants register for the Capstone course (1 Graduate School credit hour) which is fully distance learning.
All students must begin the program in the fall semester. Students may take longer than one year to complete the Certificate Program. They must, however, take HCE.G501/Foundations in Clinical Health Care Ethics their first semester enrolled in the program. Students pursuing the optional concentration in Catholic health care ethics must also take HCE.G503 their first semester.
Posting of Grades and Award of Graduate Certificate
Grades are posted after each course is completed. (See, Course Registration and Program Dates.) The Graduate School permits a maximum of one year after an incomplete grade is entered to change the grade after relevant course work is completed, otherwise the grade defaults to a fail grade. The Graduate Certificate is awarded only after all course requirements are completed.
