Anderson encourages interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches
to interpersonal communication and media studies, and especially
enjoys learning more about the philosophy and practice of dialogue,
contemporary cultural criticism, communication ethics, Taoism,
and the university as a communication system. He received a campus-wide
teaching excellence award from his previous university, and in
2004 received the Johnston Award for teaching excellence in the
social sciences at SLU. His books range from scholarly theory
to practical application. His articles appear in many periodicals
in communication, journalism, psychology, English, education,
and the human studies.

Michael
Barber is Professor of Philosophy at Saint Louis University. He
received his B.A. and M.A. from Saint Louis University, his M.Div.
from Loyola of Chicago and his Ph.D. from Yale. Author of over
25 articles, he has written three books on the philosophies of
Alfred Schutz (Buckness University Press) and Max Scheler (Bucknell)
and on Enrique Dussel's Philosophy of Liberation (Fordham), as
well as a fourth book, Equality and Diversity: Phenomenological
Investigations of Prejudice and Discrimination (Prometheus Press,
2001). His pastoral work as a Jesuit Priest includes service to
the Hispanic and African-American communities in Fairmont City,

Buerck is Assistant Professor and Director of the Computer Science
Technology Program in the School for Professional Studies at Saint
Louis University. Dr. Buerck has over eleven years of experiencein
teaching, research, and curriculum development in the areas of
applied computer science, computer applications, and computers
in society - both in industry and in academia. He hs conducted
research in conjunction with with development of ethics modules
for the computer Science Technology degree program and in 1999,
he was awarded the Ethics Across the Curriculum Summer Stipend
Award for his proposal to incorporate ethics into the Computer
Science Technology program.

E. Fisher, Director of the Emerson Electric Center for Business
Ethics and Associate Professor of Marketing at Saint Louis University,
received his M.Div. from Yale University and his Ph.D. from the
University of Illinois. His teaching responsibilities have focused
in the area of marketing management and buyer behavior. His published
research and wide consultancy has focused on household spending
patterns, social class influences on buyer behavior, and measurement
of customer satisfaction. The Center for Business Ethics is engaged
in several projects and public forums that reflect an applied
approach to business ethics. Its case study research is intended
to foster dialogue among faculty, students and business practitioners
as well as advancing the application of ethical perspectives to
business decision making.

Gilsinan, Dean of the College of Public Service at Saint Louis
University, received his B.S. and M.A. in Sociology from Loyola
University in Chicago and his Ph.D. in Sociology and Criminology
from the University of Colorado. He is highly regarded as a teacher,
having received the Nancy McNair Ring Award for Outstanding Contribution
as a Teacher. His major works, Criminology and Public Policy:
An Introduction (Prentice Hall) and Doing Justice: How the System
Works - as seen by the participants (Prentice Hall), have been
complemented by an array of scholarly articles on criminal justice,
program evaluation methods, and philosophy of science. Current
research interests include public sector management, law enforcement,

Ann
Hayes is Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at Saint Louis
University. She received her B.S. in Physical Therapy from Saint
Louis University and her M.H.S. from Washington University. She
became board certified in Orthopaedics from the American Physical
Therapy Association Board of Clinical Specialists in 1992. She
teaches Orthopaedics, Clinical Kinesiology, and Prosthetics and
Orthotics. Her specific areas of interest include dysfunctions
of the lower extremity (primarily foot and ankle) and lower extremity
prosthetics. Ann has several years of experience working as a
physical therapist at Saint Louis University hospital and she
continues to serve as consultant and staff P.T. in the Physical
Medicine Department at the Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Center.
She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Head
Injury Services.

Mary
Elizabeth Hogan an associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences,
received her Ph.D. in Higher Education from Saint Louis University.
She has M.A. degrees in English from the College of St. Rose,
Albany, New York and in Religious Studies from the University
of Detroit. She served as coordinator of special projects for
five years at the Center for Health Care Ethics at Saint Louis
University. Particular areas of interest and research are the
history of women in education, Jesuit higher education, feminist
theory and Christian feminism.

Sharon
Homan, Associate Professor and Director of the Division of Biostatistics
with the School of Public Health, after undergraduate work at
Quincy College, received her M.S. in Preventive Medicine and Ph.D.
in Biostatistics from the University of Iowa. She also has secondary
appointments in the Department of Public Policy and the Center
for Health Care Ethics at Saint Louis University, and the Urban
Family and Community Development Program at Washington University's
School of Social Work. She is the Director of Saint Louis Faith
and Health Consortium, in partnership with the Carter Center of
Emory University. Her teaching, publications and grant research
have concentrated on rural poverty, family health, public housing,
chemical dependence and "faith and health." For more

Keenan is Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Neonatology
Department at Saint Louis University. Dr. Keenan received his
MD at the Stritch School of Medicine and his Clinical Training
at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, Boston City Hospital and
Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He received a Fellowship in Neonatal
Physiology at the University of Cincinnati. His research interests
include nutrition, resuscitation, systems of care, international
health, and the patient's participation in perinatal health care.

Ed Lisson, Associate Professor of Theological Studies and Associate
Professor of Community Health at Saint Louis University, entered
the Society of Jesus in 1956. He received his B.A. and Ph.L. in
Philosophy and his M.A. in Historical Theology from Saint Louis
University and his S.T.D. in Moral Theology from Gregorian University
in Rome. Research interests include History of Catholic Moral
Theology, Ethical issues surrounding Death and Dying, and pain
management. Fr. Lisson spends his summers in Frankfort Germany
doing research at Sankt Georgen Jesuit Seminary and serving at
an American Parish nearby.

Gerard
Magill is the Center Director and Department Chair for the Center
for Health Care Ethics at Saint Louis University. With earlier
degrees in Philosophy and Moral Theology from the Gregorian University
in Rome, he received his Ph.D. in Ethics from Edinburgh University
in Scotland. In addition to twenty two years in graduate education,
Dr. Magill has edited four major works on values and public life,
abortion, and John Henry Newman. He has written 26 scholarly essays
and secured significant grant awards from Saint Louis University.

Ruckdeschel, Professor of Social Work, received his MSW from the
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and his Ph.D. from Case Western
Reserve University. Teaching areas include Qualitative Research,
Human Behavior and Environment. Research interests include: relationship
between qualitative research, practice, and evaluation of practice.
He is a member and past Chair of the Qualitative Research Committee
at Saint Louis University. Dr. Ruckdeschel completed the Ethics
Across the Curriculum Research Report of September 1997 which
helped to shape the current structure of the Ethics Across the
Curriculum Program at Saint Louis University.

W. Salsich, Jr. is a Professor of Law and the McDonnell Chair
of Justice in American Society. He holds a joint appointment in
the Department of Public Policy Studies. Professor Salsich earned
his A.B. at Notre Dame University and his J.D. at Saint Louis
University School of Law. He is past chair of the ABA Commission
on Homelessness and Poverty. He has been a recipient of the Thompson
and Mitchell faculty scholarship award and the Student Bar Association

of Chicago. Professor Tuchler has written articles on professional

and has lectured at the Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany. Professor
