This applet is designed for the visual exploration of functions defined as a sum over k of terms in x. Since this usually comes up in the context of approximating functions of x by linear combinations of specified nice functions in x (with Taylor or Fourier polynomials) provision is made for comparing with a function defined in the traditional way. A menu choice lets the user control whether a mouse click centers the graph at that point or moves the evaluation point X0. The point X0 can also be dragged.

The source. is well
documented, but all the files have been put into a single text file,
so you will need to rename the file and separate into classes before
compiling.

There is also a sample worksheet to
show how this applet has been used to explore convergence of sequences
of approximating functions to the original function.
