Welcome from the Chair
Welcome to the Department of Clinical Laboratory Science at Saint Louis University. We are thrilled to have you visit us and learn more about our profession and unique programs.
The department offers three distinct programs: Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), Cytotechnology (CT) and Investigative and Medical Sciences (IMS). CLS and CT are laboratory health care professionals and IMS is a preparatory degree.
Recently, the department celebrated 75 years of excellence and innovation in the field of laboratory science! While we have one of the oldest Clinical Laboratory Science programs in the country, it is also one of the most progressive in teaching and encouraging research at the undergraduate level. Building on this base, we introduced an innovative program in 2002, Investigative and Medical Sciences. The IMS degree is designed to provide pre-med and other pre-professional health students over 30 credit hours of diagnostic laboratory courses. This new program is unique in its design and offers you flexibility to choose a course sequence to complement your professional goals. In 2007, we introduced a BS in Cytotechnology which is the only cytotechnology program in the state of Missouri and one of only 31 in the nation.
Together these programs give us the distinction that comes with years of service and a creative vision for the scope of practice and future directions of laboratory science.
We integrate basic science courses with medically relevant applications to bring added value to your undergraduate experience.
Come celebrate with us and explore the world of laboratory science.
We'd love to show you around.Tim Randolph, Ph.D., M.L.S.(A.S.C.P.)C.M.
