Spiritual growth is a vital part of our mission as a Jesuit parish — we embrace lifelong learning and development as integral to our personal and communal relationship with God. In fact, Ignatius of Loyola began as a layperson to guide others with the Spiritual Exercises and teach catechism long before the official founding of the Society of Jesus in 1540 (The First Jesuits; John O’Malley, 1993).
Here at St. Francis Xavier College Church, opportunities for adult faith formation and spiritual growth are many and varied, emerging as they do from collaborations between parishioners, parish staff, members of the Society of Jesus, the St. Louis University faculty, and local Dominicans from Aquinas Institute of Theology.
We value suggestions and welcome participation; if you are interested in learning more about this ministry, please contact the chairperson of the commission on Faith Formation for Adults. (See the Council and Commissions page for contact information.)
