Studying environmental and occupational health prepares students to gather and then interpret informationon exposures from biological, chemical, and physical agents for determination and control of risks to human health. Human health hazards exist in homes, at work, and in communities.

Epidemiology is critical to public health because it defines the health of populations, focusing on determinants of disease and risk factors for disease, allow us to understand much of what causes human disease, leading to public health interventions to prevent disease in populations.
