Mission, Vision and Covenant
Based on our commitment of service to others, we improve health and well-being locally, nationally and internationally through unique interdisciplinary approaches that inspire students, generate knowledge and engage individuals and communities.
Consistent with the Jesuit tradition of Saint Louis University, the College for Public Health & Social Justice continually strives for excellence in scholarship through nationally and internationally recognized performance in teaching, research and service.
The core of our mission is to seek truth, but as a Catholic, Jesuit institution we acknowledge that simply seeking truth is not enough. The methods we use to discover truth, the ends for which it is sought, and the ways in which it illuminates the world further are all essential aspects of our mission.
The Covenant of the College for Public Health & Social Justice
In light of our person-centered service mission, we seek to provide for those who constitute the College's community an environment that cultivates:
The foundation of all our lives flowing from God's empowering love for all of us
A willingness to be accountable for one's actions and fidelity to the obligations that accompany one's accepted roles
A belief in the integrity of others
A respect for the beliefs of others
A sensitivity to the rights of others
A lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth
The fulfillment of one's responsibility in a total life context
A commitment to shared values and purposes with College for Public Health & Social Justice students, faculty, staff, alumni and preceptors
The Covenant is unique to the college. It is a statement of values that guides the activities of the college and it is hoped students take these values with them when they enter the world of practice.
