Kevin Broom, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Health Management & Policy who joined the faculty at SLU in 2011.
Dr. Broom has extensive practitioner experience in health administration. Dr. Broom has practitioner experience as both a Hospital Chief Financial Officer and as a Health Administrator for a Department of Surgery, both within the Department of Defense. Immediately prior to joining the SLU faculty, Dr. Broom served as a full-time graduate faculty member for the Army-Baylor University Graduate Program in Health and Business Administration, as well as an adjunct faculty member for both Baylor University (main campus) and Trinity University. In these roles, he taught multiple courses such as Corporate Finance, Healthcare Finance, Healthcare Accounting, and Investments.
Dr. Broom also serves on behalf of the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), the accrediting body for graduate-level programs in health management. He currently serves on the Candidacy Committe, and he also teaches competency-based education to other graduate programs around the country through the CAHME Boot Camps. Dr. Broom also served as a CAHME Fellow for four years, conducting many accreditation visits at programs located throughout North America.
Dr. Broom and his wife Polly are the parents of 5 children.
