Laura K. Brennan is an adjunct assistant professor of behavioral science and health education. She helped to found the "Health Communication Research Laboratory" and worked with Dr. Matthew Kreuter on multiple intervention projects. As part of this experience, she was one of four authors of Tailoring Health Messages: Customizing communication with computer technology, a guide for developing tailored intervention programs.

She has also worked on several community research projects under the leadership of Drs. Beth Baker and Ross Brownson. This work stimulated her interest in community participatory action research, specifically the examination of protective social factors and community change, as well as her interest in promoting activity-friendly community environments.

Currently, Dr. Brennan also participates in multiple projects in the state of Missouri to facilitate discussions among health practitioners, providers, community members and advocacy groups to assist these groups in coping with substantial funding cuts, to strategically plan grant programs and to enhance organizational capacity of community-based organizations.
